South Yorkshire Police have arrested two men in connection with an alleged rape in Mexborough.
Officers responded to reports of the incident on Bank Street at 2:09 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2026. Investigators believe a woman was assaulted by two men.
A 48-year-old man faces suspicion of rape, while a 45-year-old man is held on suspicion of sexual assault. Authorities made the arrests on Sunday, May 2, and released both on bail as the probe continues.
Suspect Descriptions
One suspect is white, around 5 feet 10 inches tall, of average build, and bald. The second is white, approximately 6 feet tall, and slim.
The victim receives specialist support from dedicated services.
Detective Chief Inspector Susannah Wagstaff stated: “We know that news of this incident will cause concern in our local communities but I want to reassure you that we have a team of detectives working hard to progress this investigation.”

Dorset Police launched an investigation after a reported rape on Boscombe Beach. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026.
Officers established a cordon on the waterfront and sandy areas to facilitate inquiries. An increased police presence remains in the vicinity.
No arrests have occurred. Dorset Police stated: “We received a report that a man had raped a woman on Boscombe beach at around 10pm on Thursday 7 May 2026. An investigation is underway and detectives are speaking with the victim to provide support and establish the full circumstances of the incident. A cordon has been put in place to allow for enquiries to be carried out. There will be an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues. No arrests have been made.”
