When Overland Park Police Officer Mike Mosher was killed in Might 2020, his household was left with grief. Mosher, who was off responsibility, confronted a hit-and-run suspect close to 123rd Avenue and Antioch. The encounter became a lethal shootout. Mosher and the suspect, Phillip Carney, each died. Frank Donchez, then Overland Park’s police chief, stated Mosher embodied the calling of regulation enforcement. “Mike jumped proper in and confronted the hit-and-run offender. Finally, it price him his life. However that’s what we do. We run in the direction of hazard when others run away,” Donchez stated.
