On Wednesday, the first day of the US authorities shutdown, workers on the Division of Schooling (DOE) set their computerized out-of-office e mail responses to tell recipients that they might be unable to reply till after the shutdown. Hours later, many DOE workers realized their response message had been altered to comprise partisan language with out their consent.
