Dubai is creating a brand new satellite-powered monitoring platform to trace its coasts, ports, and marine surroundings in actual time, following an settlement between the Mohammed Bin Rashid Area Centre (MBRSC) and the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Company (PCFC).

The memorandum, formalised at GITEX World 2025, was signed by Salem Humaid AlMarri, Director Common of MBRSC, and Nasser Abdulla Al Neyadi, Chief Govt Officer of PCFC.

The collectively developed system will mix satellite tv for pc imagery with ground-based analytics to trace shoreline modifications, vessel exercise, and sea situations in actual time.

Dubai marine monitoring

Purposes embody monitoring wave patterns, analysing Automated Identification System (AIS) disruptions, detecting oil spills, and supporting maritime security and environmental sustainability.

“The event of an built-in monitoring platform will improve the effectivity of marine and safety operations throughout Dubai’s ports and assist our efforts to guard the marine surroundings, monitor emissions, and detect oil spills with larger accuracy.

The collaboration builds on MBRSC’s increasing Earth-observation programme. Earlier this yr, the Centre launched MBZ-SAT — the area’s most superior imaging satellite tv for pc — and Etihad-SAT, its first Artificial Aperture Radar satellite tv for pc.

Collectively they supply high-resolution optical and radar imaging to assist civil, maritime, and environmental purposes.
