Anne Hathaway highlights the playful and relaxed atmosphere she cherishes most when collaborating with Australian actors on film sets. The 43-year-old star, known for The Devil Wears Prada, shares her experiences with co-stars including Hugh Jackman in 2012’s Les Misérables and Rebel Wilson in The Hustle.
Aussies’ Fun Yet Dedicated Approach
“I think playfulness,” Hathaway explains. “Aussies are very private about taking it seriously… It’s very much ‘have a great time’; the vibe is that nobody takes themselves seriously.”
She emphasizes their underlying commitment, noting, “Secretly, everyone is taking the work seriously.” This blend of levity and professionalism stands out to her.
Collaboration in The Devil Wears Prada 2
Hathaway teams up with veteran Australian actor Patrick Brammall, 50, who portrays her love interest in the recently released sequel. Brammall recently discussed the removal of Sydney Sweeney’s cameo from the film.
“When putting a film together, things have got to go… and so Sydney Sweeney went! I never met her, but she was apparently in the opening sequence,” Brammall shared on the No Filter podcast.
He attributes the cut to creative needs and pacing: “It is all for creative reasons and time… There were a few scenes that I shot that weren’t in the movie.”
Details on the Scrapped Scene
Sweeney, 28, filmed a three-minute role where Emily Blunt’s character styled her during a reunion sequence. Andy Sachs (Hathaway) reconnects with former Runway colleagues Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) and Nigel Kipling (Stanley Tucci) to rescue the magazine from a scandal. They seek assistance from Blunt’s Emily, now at Dior.
The sequence did not fit structurally, leading to its exclusion despite the production team’s appreciation for Sweeney’s effort. She skipped the film’s premiere last month. Fans first spotted her on the New York City set in August, sparking interest in her involvement.
