Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent instructed NBC’s “Meet the Press” that President Donald Trump’s financial agenda wants extra time and reiterated that the sweeping international tariffs will convey again home manufacturing jobs.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent downplayed claims on Sunday that tariffs had been harming American companies and shoppers, arguing that any short-term prices had been outweighed by long-term advantages to U.S. competitiveness.

He added that the sweeping measures will strengthen home manufacturing and create new building and manufacturing facility jobs.
