The Washington County Attorney’s Office in Utah has charged BYU wide receiver Parker Kingston with first-degree felony rape following a nearly yearlong investigation.

Details of the Allegation

A 20-year-old woman reported a sexual assault to officers at St. George Regional Hospital. She stated that Kingston assaulted her on February 23, 2025. St. George Police Department detectives collected digital and forensic evidence and interviewed the involved parties and witnesses before submitting the findings to the Washington County Attorney’s Office for review.

Court Proceedings

Kingston remains in custody without bail in Washington County. He is set to appear in Utah’s Fifth Judicial District Court on Friday.

BYU’s Response

The BYU athletic department issued a statement noting awareness of the arrest. “The university takes any allegation very seriously and will cooperate with law enforcement,” the department said. It added that federal and university privacy laws prevent further comment on student matters.

Player’s Performance and Context

Kingston led BYU receivers in 2025 with 66 catches for 924 yards and five touchdowns.

This marks the second notable rape allegation involving a BYU football player in the past year. In May, former quarterback Jake Retzlaff faced a civil lawsuit accusing him of rape. The parties dismissed the case with prejudice in June, barring refiling, and no criminal charges resulted. Retzlaff would have risked a lengthy suspension under BYU’s honor code, which bans premarital sex, before transferring to Tulane.
