Two men sustained injuries in separate knife attacks in Chandigarh, with one incident linked to a failed robbery attempt and the other to a dispute between tenants.
Robbery Attempt on Dividing Road
A 32-year-old biker from Sector 42 suffered stab wounds after resisting robbers on the road between Sectors 34 and 44 early Tuesday morning. Rohit Dhankar was riding his motorcycle around 2:30 a.m. toward GMCH-32 to visit a sick friend when three unidentified men blocked his path and demanded his belongings at knifepoint.
Dhankar fought back, prompting the attackers to stab him before fleeing the scene. Despite his injuries, he reached the hospital and alerted Sector 34 police. Authorities have filed a case against the unknown assailants, reviewed local CCTV footage, and initiated a manhunt. No arrests reported yet.
Tenant Dispute Turns Violent in Maloya
In a separate case, Maloya police have charged a tenant with stabbing his housemate in Dadumajra colony. The victim, Manoj, who rents in Maloya, argued with Umesh, another resident in the same house, on Monday night. The disagreement appeared resolved, but Umesh allegedly ambushed Manoj from behind the next night as he headed to a nearby gurdwara, slashing his back with a sharp weapon.
Manoj dialed 112 for help, and a quick response team rushed him to GMSH-16. Police recorded his statement at the hospital and registered charges against Umesh under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions. Raids continue to apprehend the suspect.
