Durham Region police have issued a public warning regarding a convicted first-degree murderer temporarily released in Oshawa for 72 hours. Darren Scott Ray, 65, is serving a life sentence for the crime.
Details of the Release
Authorities granted Ray an unescorted temporary absence permit on Monday afternoon. Officials describe him as posing a significant risk to the community and confirm ongoing monitoring of his whereabouts and activities.
Strict Conditions Imposed
Ray must remain within Durham Region and adhere to several conditions. These include obeying the law, keeping the peace, traveling directly to his approved destination, and reporting to a parole supervisor while following a designated release plan.
Association restrictions prohibit contact with anyone under 18 without parole supervisor approval and accompaniment by a responsible adult aware of his criminal history. He cannot communicate with known or suspected criminals and must report all sexual, non-sexual relationships, and friendships to his supervisor.
