A two-day-old kitten named Minky urgently needs a forever home after rescuers discovered her abandoned on the streets, still attached to her umbilical cord and huddled beside her lifeless siblings for warmth.
Dramatic Rescue in Greece
Volunteers from Greek Stray ResQ spotted the tiny, defenseless kitten in a heartbreaking scene. One rescuer shared: “She should have been with her mother. Instead, she is fighting to survive. Right now, Minky needs round-the-clock care—feeding every two to three hours, day and night. Without it, she won’t make it.”
Minky requires constant attention to build strength, as she remains too young for travel. Rescuers aim to place her in a permanent UK home once she recovers fully.
The Challenges of Kitten Season
Greece faces overwhelming “kitten season” due to large populations of unsterilized stray and semi-stray cats. Thousands of kittens enter the world in dangerous conditions each year. Many face abandonment, and survivors depend on volunteers for bottle-feeding, warmth, veterinary care, and intensive support.
Greek Stray ResQ currently cares for Minky alongside four other vulnerable kittens—Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, and Roo—rescued under similar dire circumstances.
Call for Donations and Adoptions
Saving these fragile lives demands significant resources, including milk formula, food, medications, and nonstop caregiving. The rescue urges support: “If you can, please consider donating to help us continue saving these fragile lives. And if you may be interested in adopting in the coming weeks, please get in touch. Even a small contribution can mean the difference between life and death because they don’t stand a chance without us.”
Public reactions highlight the story’s impact, with one commenter noting: “Poor little soul… thank you for saving her.” Another said: “This image is so powerful. I think all the emotions are felt here—sadness, awe, disappointment, and hope. Thank you for being the one person who did not look away.”
