A familiar voice graces KIIS FM’s breakfast show once more. Jaimee Blazquez, known as ‘Mayo,’ steps in as fill-in host starting Monday. The senior producer from the former Kyle and Jackie O Show returns after maternity leave.
Official Announcement Highlights Team Reunion
KIIS FM shared the exciting update on Instagram: “It’s time to announce the next fill-in host on KIIS… Following in the footsteps of Georgie Tunny and Abbie Chatfield will be our very own producer Mayo!” The post adds, “Mayo (or Jaimee as her parents call her) will be joining Brooklyn, Mike E, Nat and the whole crew on KIIS from Monday morning at 6am.”
Mayo collaborated closely with Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson prior to the show’s cancellation earlier this year.
Listeners React with Mixed Emotions
Reactions pour in, reflecting divided sentiments. One commenter notes, “Love the team but we need the leaders back.” Another expresses, “It’s lovely to have Mayo back but truly miss Kyle and Jackie. Their chemistry is unmatchable and let’s not forget that.” A third adds, “Love that Mayo is getting a go. Still missing the OG’s though.”
Positive responses abound too, with one fan exclaiming, “OMG best news ever! I will be listening! I haven’t listened since the big bust up!”
Search for Permanent Hosts Continues
No permanent replacement has emerged for the breakfast slot vacated by the radio duo, who face an ongoing court battle with their former employer over unfair dismissal claims. Names like Abbie Chatfield, who hosted a recent two-week stint, have surfaced, but she confirms no long-term plans with the station.
Chatfield’s high-profile career, including a recent defamation settlement requiring a five-figure payment to Harrison Boon from Married At First Sight, influences decisions. Despite this, staff warmly welcomed her, especially producer Pete Deppeler, known as Intern Pete. Shared Instagram photos and videos capture their on-air camaraderie amid the network’s recent upheavals.
KIIS FM stays silent on permanent plans while legal matters unfold. Discussions with potential replacements advance steadily.
