Saudi Arabia arrests 18,200 in nationwide crackdown on residency and labour violations

Saudi Arabia has arrested 18,200 folks in a single week as authorities intensify efforts to curb residency, labour, and border safety breaches throughout the Kingdom.

The inspection campaigns, carried out between January 15 and 22, have been carried out throughout all areas of Saudi Arabia to make sure compliance with residency, work, and border laws.

Officers recorded 18,200 violations, together with:

  • 11,442 residency offences
  • 3,931 border safety violations
  • 2,827 labour legislation breaches

Authorities apprehended 1,762 people trying to cross the border into the Kingdom illegally. Of those, 46 per cent have been Yemenis and 53 per cent have been Ethiopians.
