NEW ORLEANS — Actor Shia LaBeouf posted a $100,000 bond following his Mardi Gras Day arrest outside a bar in the Marigny neighborhood. He faces mandatory rehabilitation and regular drug and alcohol testing as conditions of his release.
Release Conditions and Court Proceedings
Judge Simone Levine ordered LaBeouf, 39, returned to custody unless he posted bond during Thursday’s hearing. Court records confirm charges of simple battery, with a follow-up date set for March 19.
Updated terms require LaBeouf to complete rehab, undergo routine testing, and avoid contact with the alleged victims and the incident location. The judge described him as a public safety risk when intoxicated.
Details of the Arrest
Police arrested LaBeouf early Fat Tuesday after he grew aggressive when asked to leave the R Bar. Officers report he struck two individuals and shouted homophobic slurs during the altercation.
Video footage captures LaBeouf removing his shirt, shoving a man, and swinging punches while bystanders urged him to stop. Authorities pinned him down until responders arrived.
Post-arrest, LaBeouf reappeared on Bourbon Street, where he posed for fan photos. Days later, he shared “Free me” on X. He had been initially released on February 17 without bond on his own recognizance.
Following the hearing, LaBeouf hurried away from reporters along Tulane Avenue, dodging questions.
