The Uttar Pradesh government will implement a wage increase for outsourced employees across the state starting April 2026. This follows Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s announcement during the state assembly’s budget session.
New Service Conditions in Tenders
Various state departments now include updated service conditions and revised pay scales in their tenders for outsourced roles. A government official confirmed these changes will result in higher monthly wages for workers.
Revised Wages by Role
- Watchmen and peons: ₹18,000 per month
- Translators, computer operators, and data entry operators: around ₹23,000
- System administrators and senior programmers: ₹37,000
- Statistical officers: ₹29,000
- Senior data entry operators: ₹30,000 to ₹31,000
Uttar Pradesh Outsource Service Corporation
In September 2025, the state cabinet approved the creation of the Uttar Pradesh Outsource Service Corporation (UPCOS). This body will handle outsourced hiring via the GeM Portal and enforce the wage hikes. Departments have begun integrating these provisions into tender processes.
Updates in Chief Electoral Officer’s Office
The Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) office issued a tender revising wages for staff in assembly constituencies and district headquarters. Key changes effective April 1 include:
- Computer operators: from ₹15,600 to ₹23,000 (including EPF)
- Programmers: from ₹25,000 to ₹29,000
- Peons: from ₹12,900 to ₹18,000
Prior revisions covered Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and other election personnel. Outsourced workers on Special Intensive Revision (SIR) duties also received approved wage increases. Other departments follow suit with similar tender updates.
