SPOILERS ahead for The Boys Season 5, Episode 6.
Homelander reaches unprecedented power levels in The Boys Season 5, Episode 6, after injecting V1 into his bloodstream. This upgrade makes him nearly invincible, leaving the main team struggling to find a way to defeat him. Butcher’s closing remark in ‘Though the Heavens Fall’ underscores the escalating threat, as even he hesitates to confront the enhanced supe.
Homelander dominates power rankings with his raw strength, outmatching most supes in direct combat. Yet, three characters possess unique abilities that could exploit vulnerabilities and provide a path to victory.
3. Ryan Butcher
Ryan demonstrates potential against Homelander despite their earlier one-on-one clash, where his father proved superior—before the V1 boost. Ryan stands out by drawing Homelander’s blood, a rare feat, and enduring a brutal assault. Homelander’s paternal instincts likely restrained his full force.
As Ryan gains combat experience, he could leverage their emotional bond to lower Homelander’s guard. When enraged, Ryan unleashes devastating attacks, nearly eliminating Stormfront—a V1 supe—with heat vision fueled by anger. This positions him as a credible threat.
2. Marie Moreau
With only two episodes remaining in Season 5, Marie Moreau’s return from Gen V could prove pivotal. Her blood manipulation powers target internals directly, offering a solution to neutralize Homelander’s V1 enhancement.
Marie could extract the V1, reactivating Butcher’s supe virus and reverting to the original plan. She might even purge all Compound V, reducing Homelander to a powerless human—his greatest fear—and exposing him to easy elimination by anyone, including herself.
1. Soldier Boy
Soldier Boy’s dynamic with Homelander grows tense in Season 5, especially since he supplied the V1. Their alliance may shatter soon, and Soldier Boy’s clash with Bombsight reveals his edge.
His radiation bursts depower supes, including V1 variants like Bombsight. Though slower than Homelander’s heat vision, a distraction would enable deployment. Once stripped of powers, Homelander falls to any attacker.
