A cotton sweet nebula glows in Vera C. Rubin Observatory’s first close-up picture: Area photograph of the week

This week, researchers revealed the long-awaited debut pictures from the Vera C. Rubin Observatory in Chile. Amongst its first batch — alongside one of many most detailed snapshots of house ever taken — was this spectacular picture of the Trifid Nebula, often known as Messier 20. The gorgeous picture from the world’s largest digital digicam showcases the colourful object at its greatest.
