Kraig Biocraft Laboratories has significantly expanded its research and development facilities by hiring new scientific staff and installing advanced equipment. This upgrade has tripled the screening throughput, enabling the team to match the pace of breakthroughs in transgenic development.

Response to Project Atlas Progress

These enhancements directly address the swift advancements in Project Atlas, the company’s flagship program for next-generation recombinant spider silk. The initiative targets innovative biomaterials suitable for industrial and defense uses.

Enhanced Analytical Capabilities

Beyond boosting screening capacity, Kraig Labs has upgraded its analytical testing tools. These improvements offer detailed analysis of expression levels and functional effects in engineered transgenic lines, helping researchers pinpoint top genetic designs for the production pipeline.

Dr. Zhang, the company’s Chief Scientist, highlighted the upgrades’ potential: “By significantly increasing screening capacity and analytical insight, we expect to shorten development timelines and better identify breakthrough material candidates.”

Recognition in National Geographic

The company’s bioengineering leadership graces the cover of the March 2026 National Geographic issue, underscoring its role in scaling spider silk production.

Company Overview

Kraig Biocraft Laboratories leads in genetically engineered spider silk-based fiber technologies. Its platform relies on silkworms modified to produce recombinant spider silk through integrated spider silk proteins, promising transformations in the global textile sector.
